'The Field of Dreams' is part of the 'When We Were Very Young' series. Painted on reclaimed wood, this piece of wood was salvaged from my house when I was having building work done. I have worked into it using layers of acrylic paint and added snippets of vintage dress patterns to it. The dress patterns remind me of my mum and how she used to make all my clothes when I was little. The colours are inspired by the colours I saw around me when I was young, in particular, the painted walls and doors of my childhood home. Layers of paint have been scrapped, sanded and gouged, representing the layers of history within families.
